"Unexpected Changes"
Just over a month and a half ago, the largest fire in Lexington in over 30 years struck the Bluegrass Stockyards. The fire decimated the old, large wooden structure, smoke could be seen from 20-30 miles away, and the fire was so hot that it damaged nearby buildings and roads.
Flash forward to today as R.J. Corman's empty Alcan train passes by the leveled field in which the Stockyards once stood. But all is not lost, as the Stockyards will rebuild near the Kentucky Horse Park starting this summer. But, one historic building that stood for over 70 years, is now no more.
