Remarks & Notes

Amtrak acquired eighteen of Santa Fe’s San Bernardino rebuilt switchers near the end of 1984. Newly repainted number 559 stands at Ivy City, where it will remain as a shop switcher until it is sold to the Morristown and Erie in 2009. This unit began life in 1953 as AT&SF SW9 2426.
