Remarks & Notes
Rail Train on the Irvington I.T.
The Irvington Industrial is about to undergo a bit of a transformation. It seems that Conrail has decided to invest in this relatively busy little line which hosts the 5-day-per-week OI-10 local. Over a two-day period this rail train dropped several sections of welded rail between the Liberty Ave and Hillside Ave crossings, creating quite a local traffic jam in the process. This relay rail will replace the existing worn-out, jointed rail over the length of the 2+ mile line. The train is not moving in this view, but moments later the Hillside P.D. stopped all traffic from entering this block of Liberty Ave so the crew could drop another two sections of rail. This CSX GEVO is certainly the largest locomotive I have seen on the Irvington I.T. in the last 15 years of observing regular operations. This line was once the Irvington Branch of the Lehigh Valley Railroad.
