Back to Basics. On a fine Portland Sunday we see typical power at Willbridge Yard. GN 3613 was built as BN 388 in 1972. It was repainted into BNSF H1 colors and has spent the majority of its time in Willbridge Yard, making its way to Vancouver, Wa for servicing every once and awhile. Today, the unit has just been fired up to switch out oil tankers to the left of the engine. Maybe the close quarters of the tracks have kept the locomotive on the roster? Who knows how much longer these locomotives will be on the system, UP seemed to get rid of the majority of their switching power within the last couple years. The BNSF "GN" numbers seem to be kinda like purgatory for most of these older units, like the SD9's still on the system.
