An excursion train from Feilding to Masterton passes through the tiny village of Mauriceville. This section of line now has no trains apart from occasional excursion trains. 794 was built at Hillside in Dunedin in 1927 and, after restoration, returned to mainline running in 2003.
Feilding Steam Rail operates rail excursions around lower North Island and is home of several steam locomotives of New Zealand Railway & Locomotive Society and Rail Heritage Trust. For more see www.steamrail.org.nz
