The upper Reuss valley in the blue hour at 10.18 PM, in a multiple long time exposure. In the foreground the village of Wassen, junction to the Susten pass, in the background the lights of Göschenen and the Schöllenen gorge. The broad light traces in the valley are from vehicles on the Gotthard highway A2. On the right, on the mountainside, we can see the light traces of the northbound Interregio 2442, far away near Göschenen, in the Eggwald part (clearly visible the two red signals of Eggwald track change station) and between the upper Entschigtal avalanche protector and the former linesman house number 23fs on the far right. In the middle, the light traces on the middle level of the loops, between Middle Meienreuss bridge and the lower Entschigtal avalanche protector. The train changed from the left to the right track on the switches before Wassen station. On the left the baroque church of Wassen, built from 1734 to 1742, on a hill. When travelling over the Gotthard line, you can see this church from three different levels.
An ongoing/growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome, but seldom seen beauty of railroads because most of us don't go out after sundown or before sunrise. From dusk to dawn, lights are on! (And I continue to find new "Lights In The Night"!)
