This every day local switching talc cars at Lime near Townsend, MT was nothing abnormal except for trailing unit, MRL 382, the last operating SD45 on Montana Rail Link. The Helena Local, a turn from Helena to Logan, MT and back runs Sunday through Thursday, and had been featuring the 382 of late. On this date, the SD45 was making its last daylight trip on MRL as an operating locomotive. It would return on the head end at sunset. The following day would be its last run.
