Remarks & Notes
Amtrak's Empire Builder slows for a stop at North La Crosse, WI behind a former CBQ/BN E8A, a pair of X-GN Fs, and a former NP F. Prior to May 1971, the E unit was a common visitor to La Crosse, but typically handled Zephyrs, Empire Builders and North Coast Limiteds on Burlington trackage which crossed these Milwaukee Road tracks just east of here at Grand Junction. A CNW line also crossed there. Amtrak moved the remaining Chicago-Twin Cities trains to the Milwaukee Road to serve more cities.
