The Michigan Northern quit operating in 1987 after failed attempts to save the railroad. The Tuscola and Saginaw Bay Railroad took over a small portions of the State owned trackage, that Michigan Northern operated. Most track was eventually torn up. In 1995 ten years after most of the railroad had ceased operating, GP7 1604 sits in Cadillac awaiting disposition....
