Remarks & Notes
We're standing on the Lacrosse Depot platform waiting for the Empire Builder to come in so we can change crews and take it to Milwaukee. There was always a little anticipation anxiety those last few minutes. I'm mean...come on man...we will be taking a 12-15 car passenger train across the state of Wisconsin 196 miles from the Mississippi River to Lake Michigan packed with travelers knowing that they are depending on you for a wonderful and safe part of their journey.....am I overblowing this....I don't think so. Anyway...while we look over our last minute details as an Engine crew I ponder what it must be like to just go back and forth on the yard lead at Lacrosse switching cars for destinations and following the hand signs of the Switchmen. I realize that their job too comes with the great responsibility that RRing holds for all that are in its employ!
