When the Susquehanna purchased the ex-DL&W Syracuse and Utica branches in 1982, it had an immediate need for additional power. Searching the used locomotive market, the NYS&W purchased five Alco C430’s, representing half of the New York Central’s fleet, and almost a third of Alco’s total production of the 3000 hp B-B’s. Here former NYC/PC/CR 2056 stands at Binghamton, New York. Today the 3006 labors on as Western New York & Pennsylvania 433.
