Remarks & Notes
Never a pleasant job on a cold winter's day was filling the water tanks on an F7. You either did it from ground meaning it splattered all over you and everything else or the roof which was not a fun or safe place to be considering all the oil that would be coated on everything up there. Here Engineer Russ Langer fills the tank of the 88C before he departs the Portage Round House with his covered wagons for train 254. There was a mechanic in charge at times but being the only employee left at the round house he was probably busy on something else at the time so most of us younger Engineers tried to help out as much as possible.
