I encountered the Willmar to Aberdeen local near Holloway, MN around midday as they sat waiting for some maintenance equipment to clear. It appeared that the clouds would clear by late afternoon, so I decided to stick with them and get some shots in South Dakota, figuring on a decent chase at least to Summit. After the maintenance finally cleared, they only made it to Odessa before they sat for two and a half hours behind another manifest waiting on some signal work. Finally, the trains started to move just as the sun came out from behind the clouds. I didn't get to chase them as far as I expected in daylight, but seeing an SD60M leading in this kind of light as they worked at Milbank was well worth the wait.
