"Hail, Hail Flatonia; Land of the Brave and Free!"
Waiting in the Union Pacific yard in Flatonia, Texas, on October 27, 2016, is BNSF Railway train H-CDTTUL1-27 (High Priority Merchandise; Cadet Yard to Tulsa OK). This train has ample power in the form of BNSF AC4400CW 5670 and CREX ES44AC 1324, but it still sat at this location for the entire four and a half hours that we were there.
(Surely I can’t be the only one who grabs a photo of a train just to be able to post a photo based upon the location’s name! And when that name reminds one of this song from 1933's "Duck Soup"? Well, you’ve just gotta get a shot there! "If chewing gum is chewed, the chewer is pursued, and in the hoosegow hidden.")
Coal and steel don't go bad. This album features long, slow, heavy freight trains; drag freights, slop freights, dead freights, etc. Trains with lots of power, and lots of different cargo slogging along behind.
