Minuteman Without a Top Coat

Boston & Maine SW8 803 rolled out of LaGrange in 1953 wearing B&M’s maroon and gold “Minuteman” scheme. Service in the New England environment for twenty eight years has taken its toll on the 803’s paint. The maroon paint has almost completely worn off, exposing the now-faded gold paint that was applied before the maroon. The SW8 was subsequently repainted in the B&M’s solid blue scheme.
