Remarks & Notes

As a result of a Chicagoland blizzard, the South Shore lost electric service along part of its territory from Chicago to South Bend. To keep commuters moving, the railroad borrowed several diesel-powered Metra commuter sets until electric service was restored. One of these sets, consisting of a Metra F40PH and bilevel cars, is seen picking up passengers at the Hegewisch station on Chicago's south side as the snow continues to pound the city.
