Remarks & Notes
An eastbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe coal train departs Walsenburg, Colorado, on February 13, 1998. The train is powered by four BN EMD SD70MACs, and can be seen curving through town above the locomotives. This is the former Colorado and Southern/Fort Worth and Denver route from Colorado to Texas. Rio Grande once had trackage rights to here from Pueblo, so it could access its line over La Veta Pass to Alamosa that connected to this C&S main line back in town about mid-train.
