Remarks & Notes
After the implementation of the Aldene Plan in 1967 that diverted CNJ trains from the old main to Jersey City onto the Lehigh Valley and the Pennsylvania into Newark, Raritan trains had to be run in push-pull fashion, so some of the original 40 and 50 year old Bethlehem Shipbuilding heavy-weight commuter coaches were converted into cab-control cars. By the time of this shot running as a Conrail train, one of the CNJ CCU cars is seen here leading a train from Plainfield.
