What ended up being one of the last moves to traverse the UP Topeka Sub. for a while was UP Train ZG4TU 26, headed west from the "SP Yard" along the Ex-Rock Island Golden State Route.
The region was under a Tornado Watch at the time of the photo, and convection was boiling off to the west. Some of these storms spawned tornadoes, others large hail and high winds, but almost all of them dropped several inches of rain.
A bridge at MP 103.1, just a few mile west of here adjacent to the Kansas River fell victim to the high water, being washed away, closing the line for what was estimated to be up to 10 days. Fortunately a Flash Flood Warning was in effect for the area, prompting a track inspection when the washout was discovered.
