Amtrak train #3, the westbound Southwest Chief, departs Fullerton, California, on February 9, 2017, as it heads the last 26 miles of its journey from Chicago to Los Angeles. On this February 9, 2017, morning, the train is led by two uniquely painted engines: P42DC 42, wearing the carrier's salute to America's military veterans, and P42DC 156, wearing Amtrak's "Phase I" paint scheme applied for the system's 40th Anniversary in 2011. Amtrak 42 recently had former Amtrak president Joseph H. Boardman applied under the cab windows to honor his military service as a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
