Remarks & Notes

BN 724, an F7 along with two former NP Geeps roll an intermodal transfer towards Balmer Yard along the Seattle-Portland mainline on Seattle's south side. The signal to the left protects the Pacific Coast double track mainline, owned by BN but used more by Milwaukee Road to access Seattle. Further left, new box cars from Pacific Car & Foundry, Renton, WA wait their next move on trackage owned by Union Pacific. All the trackage in this area has been substantially changed since the BNSF merger, allowing a jointly used mainline by BNSF, UP, Amtrak and Sound Transit. Paccar now makes Kenworth semi tractors where box cars once were erected.
