Remarks & Notes
Just a few minutes into April 11, Norfolk Southern/Pan Am Southern train 14R is seen passing the remains of the Boston & Maine Johnsonville Tower in the namesake town of New York with NS AC44C6M 4005 leading the Central of Georgia heritage ES44AC 8101. Johnsonville Tower was built in 1931 at the former junction of the Boston and Maine Railroad’s mainline and its Troy, New York Branch. B&M freight and passenger trains making connections to the New York Central Railroad over the Troy Branch, as well as seeing use by the Delaware and Hudson and Rutland Railroads. The tower was constructed as part of the B&M’s initial investment in Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) and was retired in 1962 when CTC functions were shifted to Greenfield, Massachusetts. It was completely abandoned by the B&M in the 1970s.

A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
