| The DL class were built to KiwiRail specifications by CNR Dalian, China from 2010 to 2014. Another 15 or 16 locomotives are being placed on order for delivery in 2018. 4260 is a DC class EMD G22Ar rebuilt from DA class EMD G12. The line to New Zealand Steel opened in 1968 saving most of the line to Waiuku from permanent closure. The remainder of the line was also saved by establishment of the Glenbrook Vintage Railway. |
