A look back at what once was. The Piedmont Region of North Carolina was the last place I'd expect to find one of the last of the surviving fleet of the once-proud Southern Pacific Railroad. At the time, this was one of just five GE AC4400CW left in their original SP "Bloody Nose" paint scheme, applied some twenty years prior to this photo in GE's Erie, PA locomotive plant- itself (sadly) another piece of railroad American railroad history being pushed closer to obscurity due to GE's domestic locomotive production being shifted to Fort Worth, Texas.
From all American railroads, you will see all of the American railroad heritage units, Orginal paints, and sticker units displayed in this album by Railfan 225!
