Remarks & Notes
Leaving Durbin for Cass. The former Meadow River Lumber Company Heisler #6 eases a short freight out of the downtown Durbin Yard for the roughly 15 mile run south to Cass, along the C&O Greenbrier Division. Well, perhaps not today, but at some point in the next couple of years, that trip just may be possible. As of the date when this photo was taken, the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad continues to work on the rehabilitation of the track and the repair of the extensive washouts that still exist on the connection between Durbin & Cass. Ultimately, the goal is to offer tourist excursions between the two towns, utilizing a former Buffalo Creek & Gauley 2-8-0 Consolidation that was purchased from the North Carolina Museum of Transportation in 2015.

For aficianados of geared steam engines, it's "almost heaven." Here are some scenes from the park's annual Railfan Weekends, as well as some private charters.
