With a light rain just ending, New England Central train 323-19 is seen passing through Bethel, Vermont and past the Green Mountain Feeds mill with NECR SD40T-2 3317, SD40M-2 3475 and SD40M-2 3476 in the wee hours of July 20. The scene was illuminated by a quartet of Alien Bees B1600 flash units and no, the crew was not blinded, as per the norm, the 1/800th of a second flash may be startling to an unsuspecting crew, however this is not some bright flood light shining in their eyes for 1 or more seconds. PS: Crew was aware of pending flash anyway.
The EMD SD (special duty) series are a strong and reliable kind of locomotive which still serve America's rails today. They have proved themselves reliable by clocking in several million miles of freight service over several decades.
