| "Night Shift"; Built in Spetember 1973 for the Norfolk & Western, NS 1630 (formerly NW 1630) awaits the RC conductor to climb aboard so they can drill the yard. This unit has certainly seen better days, once proudly hauling thousands of tons of Appalachian coal, now relegated to nothing more than a heavy yard switcher. This unit is just one of 10 high-hood six-axles remaining on the NS roster following the recent retirement of 1633. |
