A "brand new" Re 460 locomotive of the SBB! The 6100 kW Re 460 # 090 was delivered in may 1994 by SLM and ABB. Now, at about half of its lifetime, it got a large revision (R3) in the SBB workshops at Yverdon-les-Bains and is on the approval run to Zofingen via Neuchâtel-Biel-Solothurn-ABS line-Rothrist. The date of delivery written down on the sides is "R3 24.08.2017" (Revision 3, date of today!). The revised locomotives will be fitted with modern IGBT converters instead of the former GTO converter, but the power will be the same as before. An enhancement was evaluated, but was overruled. 10 of the 119 Re 460 locomotives got their refit already. But now someone of the SBB decided, that the locomotive service number will not be inscribed on the front anymore, a very bad decision for the railway photographer!
