Remarks & Notes
Crossing the Mississippi River bridge at Sabula, Iowa, a beautiful quartet of Canadian Pacific FP9 locomotives glide across the Illinois-Iowa border bound for Kansas City. Built in 1906, the Sabula Drawbridge has been owned by five different railroads, and has transferred ownership six times over the course of the past thirty years. It once played a vital role in connecting the Milwaukee Road from Chicago to Kansas City and Omaha, and serves as a midpoint between Kansas City, Minneapolis and Chicago for the Canadian Pacific Railway.
