On 10-9-86 Amtrak's eastbound Empire Builder derailed traveling through a 10mph crossover at 70mhp....12 0f the 17 cars including the two locomotives went off the rails...the rear 5 cars stayed on the rails. Fireman Walter Day was killed and 33 passengers were injured including some of the onboard crew members. These photos were taken both on the 9th and 10th of October.
