Remarks & Notes
At the bottom of the opencast pit mine at Sandaoling, JS 6224 storms out of the flood loader with the second coal train of the day. This 13 car train will battle four miles of 2.5% grade before reaching the top of the pit and the coal grading facility at NanZhan. JS6224 is a special locomotive as it is now the oldest JS-class 2-8-2 in operation in the world, but for steam it is a youngster, having been built in 1981.
