Remarks & Notes
Deseret Power Ry’s afternoon train is seen here about a quarter of the way through the process of loading its 44 car train. It is creeping around the loading loop at less than walking speed. When it is finished the head end power will be nearly at the spring switch to the main line, The loading crew will tie the loaded train down and await the arrival of the swing shift crew at 4PM. Then it will be time for the 35 mile westbound trip across the beautiful, nearly uninhabited Colorado and Utah highlands to the Bonanza Power Plant. This picture only shows the loading area , not the mine itself. If you follow that coal conveyor belt to the right (south) 3 miles you will come to the Deserado Mine.
