| VL85 electric 25 kV AC lokomotive heading freight train on Transsiberian railway. VL85 is one of the most powerful serially produced locomotives in the world (max power of VL85 is 10020 kW, max speed - 110 km/h; the length of VL85 is 45 m, it has 12 axles). VL85 series were manufactured by Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Works between 1983 and 1994. The traffic on the Transsiberian Railway is very intensive: 10-15 trains can pass in an hour: this photo shows two freight trains in opposite directions. |
