| CSX K673 is on the bridge built in the 1930s which required the widening of the tunnel. The bridge in the foreground was built in the 1890s and was the second alignment that replaced the original that went around the mountain (Sandy Hook Road sits on the opposite river bank) with the railroad piercing Maryland Heights with the tunnel in the distance. The wide width of the bridge is due to the road that crossed alongside the railroad before it was rerouted to the current Route 340 alignment. |
