Remarks & Notes |
It's 20 minutes after midnight in the depot of the DGEG (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Eisenbahngeschichte) at Neustadt (Weinstrasse). The 4-6-2 "Pacific" express train steamlocomotive 01 # 202 from Lyss/Switzerland reached Neustadt after a fast "night express" steam ride from Trier via Saarbrücken in little more then 2 hours, on the return journey from the "Steam spectacle 2018" towards Switzerland. The four car train (3 couchette and a dining car) ran the 88 kilometer long very curvy line along the Saar river from Trier to Saarbrücken in 58 minutes with an average of 91 km/h, which was never done in the former steam days. Then the fastest trains on this line needed 66 minutes with one intermediate stop. The train reached a short maximum of 130 km/h and was running between 110 and 120 km/h for long streches. Now the locomotive is served by the experienced crew of association "Pacific 01 202". |
