Remarks & Notes |
Watertown Patrol stopped at Sun Prarie,WI..I'm firing for Milwaukee Road Engineer John Hahn we've both caught the Patrol off the Milwaukee board. Back in those days the Watertown board was filled Engineer from Portage and Fireman from Milwaukee. So what that mean't was trains 12&23 passenger train "THE CANNONBALL" and two freight jobs a switcher and a patrol job were filled as stated. John and I both lived in Wauwatosa,WI. so we've car pooled together when we could.I was a new guy on the Milwaukee so I had a 65 Chevy Impala and John liked the idea that he wouldn't have to drive the 45 miles each way to and from Watertown. We were still working 16 hour days back then and there was a small bunk house next to the mainline just west of the depot so we both stayed there for the week.....I remember that old 701 had a heck of a side sway(lateral) on the mainline at 60mph and it was tuff to stay on the single seat steam engine seat box style you shared with the Head Brakeman. We all called them "LOVE"seats cause you sat butt to butt. |
