Making the final strides into Cumbres, K-36 488 leaves Tanglefoot Curve under threatening skies. The train would end up arriving an hour late into Chama after a mudslide blocked the track just west of here which required the train crew to shovel it clear. Across the Continental Divide, the same monsoon storms brought the Cumbres and Toltec's estranged sister, the Durango and Silverton to a halt as mudslides from the 416 Fire burn scars blocked the track |
