| WHOOPS!!.... No traction!... A combination of steel wheels, massive weight, and locomotive power has created an imperfection to the rail head. It can take only a brief absence of traction (especially from a standstill) for a locomotive to cause a burn mark like this one. The heat generated between the two (during wheel slip) is extremely high. |
