Remarks & Notes
An RF&P TOFC train heads south past Potomac Yards. This train was most likely 171, the Orange Blossom Special. 171 originated on Conrail in South Kearny, NJ and terminated in Tampa, FL on CSX. It appears that some officials were riding in the cab on this day, as they are disembarking adjacent to the Pot Yard hump tower. Everything to the right of the Jefferson Davis Highway in this view is gone today, and that includes the row of transmission towers! The location where I was standing now contains the appropriately-named "Notch 8 Apartments". A casual visitor today would have no idea how extensive the Pot Yard complex was.
