On a pleasantly cool summer morning, east of Rocklin, CA at the base of the Sierra Nevada foothills, an east bound Union Pacific intermodal begins it’s climb up the number 2 track, blasting out of tunnel 15, only moments from disappearing into tunnel 16. The train is leaving behind the Sacramento Valley, that can be seen off in the distance taking in the early morning light.
