With the sun setting to the west, so too was the sun setting on the MRL 382. Finishing what was to be its final run on the local out of Helena, MRL 382 was sent to Livingston the next day, seemingly for good. Fortunately, it along with a couple companion SD45's would eventually be put back into service, if only temporarily. The days of SD45's in the mountains of Montana are nearly over, but the sound of 645's battling those grades won't soon fade from my memory.
