Remarks & Notes
An Amtrak Acela Express, led by No. 2009, barrels south (Amtrak west) through West Windsor, NJ, passing a MOW vehicle on a barricaded siding. Princeton Junction station is just ahead, though the train will not stop until it arrives in Philadelphia, PA. Note the new catenary supports erected along side the old as well as the new constant tension supports on the westbound tracks offering a unique contrast to the original rigid eastbound supports soon to be replaced. This is part of the NJ High-Speed Rail Improvement Program - a $450 million dollar project to increase speeds (160 mph) and reliability between New Brunswick and Trenton, NJ. Completion date for the project, originally set for the Fall of 2017 has been pushed into 2019.
