In the early morning the CNW Lacrosse/Winona Local pulls out across the Milwaukee Road/BN mainline at Grand Crossing. It wouldn't be long before the C&NW would start running over the Milwaukee Road between Tunnel City and Winona as there bridge over the Mississippi River would be destroyed by fire. They would eventually abandon there mainline between the same two locations.
