This shot was pure luck. I was headed for the Portland airport but had enough time for a few pix before I left so I chased. A few miles back the 2 was in dense morning fog, but as I drove toward Wheeler the fog started to open up. But still no sun. But this is a classic OCSR shot that I wanted, so I slithered down the steep slope from the road and picked my way through the dry spots on the mud flats. Fortunately the tide was coming in so I had water for a reflection, not mud. And just as the train came the sun peeped over the hill just enough to light the foreground. This was not a runby spot so there was no big cloud of clagg, but the morning was still cool enough to provide a nice plume of condensing steam. A properly fired steam engine loafing on the flats. Can steam railroading be an prettier? A Lerro Productions charter. Thanks to Pete and the hard working folks at the OCSR who put in some really long days.
