The Asheville District locals have for many years now been a reliable source for finding the older EMD power on full display. SD40-2s, GP38-2s, etc., were a staple, with the same exact engines running in captive duty until they literally ran out of gas. In recent months they have been rating all kinds of unique equipment. From SD60Es to lease power, it is quickly becoming guessing game as to what will be leading in a given day.
On this day, P60 is passing some of the remnants of Southern Furniture in Conover, looking more like a through freight than a local. The local had more horsepower than long-distance train 123 that passed only moments before.
