Southern 4501 leads the Summerville Steam Special south of downtown Lafayette. To the right is the remains of the old Barwicks Mills Carpet Factory that caused some headaches on November 14th, 2015. The mill had caught on fire that day, causing concerns about whether the return trip would be possible as the smoke plume could be seen as far away as Chattanooga. They ended up having to end the return trip in Lafayette as passengers were bused back to Chattanooga and emergency crews were called in to relieve the original crew & one of the C&C's diesels had to escort the train back to Chattanooga, which didn't arrive back in Chattanooga until well after midnight. Even now, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown.
