Remarks & Notes
With a single empty boxcar in tow, Claremont & Concord 44-Tonner 31 departs the C&C's yard in downtown Claremont, NH, for the Boston & Maine interchange at Claremont Junction, three miles away. The C&C once ran 57 miles between its namesake New Hampshire cities on a former B&M branchline, but by the time of this photo it had shrunk to about 6 miles of track in and around Claremont.
