Family Photo
This is a good photo that sums up railroading in Middleboro. Mass Coastal 2009 holds at the signal on the wye as an MBTA inbound commuter train rushes out of town. Two lone CSX GP40-2s idle in the adjacent yard. The Washburn Plumbing Supplies freight house still stands in the background, though in rough shape. The MC crew was dispatched to wye the ex-New Haven FL9M in town for it's first revenue run on the railroad on the "Train to Christmas Town" out of Buzzards Bay. The FL9M used to run on these rails back in New Haven's heyday, which really brings this photo together. |
