| On the longest day of 1997, Amtrak operated an excursion between Sacramento and Black Butte. It was a rare opportunity to see a fair amount of the Shasta Route in daylight hours. The return trip is rolling though Gibson, where the Sacramento River had washed out the railroad earlier in the year. |
