Remarks & Notes
South Tynedale goes green with its latest locomotive Green Dragon. An 0-4-2 loco which burns wood briquettes or Biomass. There have been a year or more of teething troubles but it has been turned out for this seasons Santa Specials. Traversing only half the usual distance and top and tailed with NEWCASTLE, the railways battery locomotive it is questionable whether this will be a long term viable solution. Apparently a large area of burning wood is needed to produce steam, much larger than the area needed for coal firing.
